Bridget wanted a new website built for her Nixa School Board re-election campaign. The goal for this website was to be fairly simple and the information being discoverable. From the first consult to the end Visuals & Visions worked with Bridget as she fleshed out her requirements for her website.

Approach

During the discussion about the core requirements for what sections need to exist, Visuals & Visions provided Bridget with some initial ideas for approaches that can be taken for the website as well as discussing visually what her preferences were. We settled in on a style and some of the core sections. Bridget also provided some of her previous campaign marketing material as potential stylistic guide as well as links to some example websites to reference.

Quick First Proof

Being that this was a fairly open ended project with not much to reference, Visuals & Visions quickly provided Bridget with an initial version of the site with "filler" text and sample images just to get a sense of the direction she would like to go. This resulted in moving towards a more "block" style website instead of a more visually flowing website which was initially created for the first proof. This also led to settling in on the idea of her image being on hero section. Visuals & Visions provided photography services to Bridget for this photo as well as some other family photos on the website.

Identifying Unique Challenges

One of the key challenges were to get visitors to what they wanted to see quickly as well as provide Bridget a platform to share her opinions being a campaign website, all while trying to be not very wordy and long winded. As Bridget was working on content for the site, there were several rounds of revisions to ensure the right length and delivery of information. Aside from this certain components of the site would be needing built with "will need that later" in mind. Bridget also wanted the ability to share relevant articles along with a "opinion/note" attached to it.

User-Centric Design

Visuals & Visions created components for the website which allow for information to be relayed in a concise manner while still allowing for a more in depth view if the website visitor desires so. Along with this, clear shortcuts to main sections of the website were created to allow for quick access. Certain components like the endorsements were designed in a manner to allow for quick future modifications / additions.

What Was Delivered?

  • Home: A concise yet informative home page with "future proof" components and balanced use of color.

  • Nav: A very simple responsive (works well on phone and computer) navigation

  • Donate: Make it easy for visitors to donate using her donor box with a simple message.

  • Meet Bridget: Allowing a place for Bridget to tell her story in depth

  • Connect with Bridget: A form that submits to her email

  • 404: Allowing users to get back to home in case they open a page that was changed / removed

Accessibility and Optimization

Visuals & Visions is always ensuring the highest possible levels of accessibility considerations during the design process wherever possible within the confines of the client's brand colors. Bridget's website also integrates modern components that enhance the overall user experience while maintaining exceptional SEO performance. Its responsive design adapts fluidly to any device, guaranteeing a flawless experience on mobile, desktop, or tablet.

Conclusion

Bridget's website is currently live and will be serviced by Visuals & Visions through the year. The website will continue to evolve as she adds more articles and endorsements.
